Job Description:
Transdev Ontario Manitoba is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as a Health and Safety Assistant in Toronto, Canada. As a Health and Safety Assistant, you will support the implementation and maintenance of health and safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a safe work environment. Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with legislative requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work sites to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, compiling and analyzing data to identify root causes and contributing factors, and recommending corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Coordinate safety training and orientation programs for employees, including scheduling sessions, tracking attendance, and maintaining training records.
- Assist in the distribution and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety supplies, ensuring availability and compliance with safety regulations.
- Provide administrative support to the health and safety team, including data entry, document management, and report generation.
- Assist with the preparation of safety communications, newsletters, and promotional materials to raise awareness and promote a safety culture within the organization.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including management, supervisors, and employees, to address health and safety concerns and promote employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives.
Education and Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a health and safety role or related field is an asset.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
